Gym Manager

Job Description

 

  1. Summary
    1. The Gym Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of all gyms within the facility. This includes ensuring high standards of customer service, maintaining the facility and equipment, managing staff, developing programs, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for members and guests.

    1. Full-Time, 40 hours a week, or more as needed

    1. Flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  1. Required Education
    1. Bachelor’s degree in business management, sports management, or a related field preferred.

 

  1. Essential Job Duties
    1. Direct and control gym staff to ensure there is appropriate gym staffing / tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner. 
    2. Coordinate and assist in the disciplinary process to ensure all gym policies are being followed/upheld (ex: phone, attendance, conduct, tasks list, etc.)
    3. Hire, manage, support, develop, coach, and mentor a team of professionals to be successful based on brand and performance expectations. 
    4. Resolve employee concerns, submit reports, partner with HR as needed.

 

  1. Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities
    1. Operations Management
      1. Oversee the daily operations of the gym, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently.
      2. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the facility.
      3. Monitor and maintain gym equipment, arranging for repairs or replacements as necessary.
      4. Ensure all gyms and common areas are clean at all times. 
      5. Oversee the completion of daily/weekly task checklists.
    1. Staff Management
      1. Hire, train, and supervise gym staff, front desk personnel, and partner with facility maintenance staff.
      2. Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
      3. Conduct regular staff meetings and performance reviews.
      4. Foster a positive and motivating work environment.
    2. Customer Service
      1. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing complaints, resolving issues, and providing excellent service.
      2. Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures.
      3. Engage with members to gather feedback and make improvements based on their suggestions.
    3. Program Management
      1. Collaborate with the Events Team to ensure sports & events programs are effective and engaging.
      2. Collaborate with trainers and instructors to ensure programs are effective and engaging.
    4. Financial Management
      1. Partner with GM/AGM to manage the gym's budget, including revenue and expense projections.
      2. Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.
      3. Handle payroll, billing, payments, and financial records accurately
    5. Health and Safety
      1. Ensure the gym complies with all relevant health and safety regulations.
      2. Conduct regular safety inspections and training sessions.
      3. Maintain up-to-date certifications and licenses for the facility and staff
    6. Marketing and Promotion
      1. Partner with Marketing to develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote the gym and its programs.
      2. Partner with Sales to utilize social media, email, and other channels to reach potential members.
      3. Coordinate promotional events and partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
    7. Other duties as assigned by manager.

 

  1. Required Skills / Experience
    1. Previous experience in a managerial role within the fitness industry.
    2. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    3. Knowledge of fitness programs, equipment, and industry trends.
    4. Experience managing budgets and financial records.
    5. Proficiency in using gym management software and other relevant technology.
